Massachusetts
Mortgage Rates - This site is maintained by the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts and lists weekly mortgage rate filings from many
banks, along with a Java-based mortgage payment calculator.
Prior to applying for credit, you should obtain a copy
of your credit report. By law, you are automatically
entitled to a free credit report per year, one from each of the three credit reporting agencies.
Experian
- Consumer and Personal Credit Free credit report and credit scores, as long as you cancel the free trial within seven days. Experian is one of the big
three credit reporting agencies. On its pages you can find out
how to order a free credit report by telephone (888 EXPERIAN
or (888 ) 397 3742), information on how to correct
your credit report, and how to have your name deleted from lists
for those incessant credit card offers ((888) 5 OPT OUT or (888)
567-8688). A useful site with many FAQs - answers to frequently
asked questions. (n.b. The preceding numbers have not been recently verified.)
Trans Union
Personal Credit Free credit report as long as you cancel "free" trial.
Equifax A page with lots of information, including an explanation of credit scores, links and phone numbers for free credit reports and "opt-out" numbers, etcetera.
